Something to always remember ...
I just got off the phone with a young lady named Rachel... She’d come to our ranch 7 years ago to meet all of the animals and have an experience here for the day. At age 12, for her bat mitzvah she had remembered the magical day she spent here and wanted to make it at part of her project as a fundraiser for the Ranch. Upon speaking with her I thanked her for remembering us, and she said; "I will never forget it!"
We sometimes don’t realize how much of a contribution it is to gift especially young children the space to interact and connect with animals. This young lady, her mother and I had the most lovely meeting as we discussed the possibilities. The one topic for the fundraiser; to raise money for underprivileged children to come to the ranch to have equine therapy sessions and experience the animals and being in nature and now have an awareness to create so many more opportunities. I wonder what else is possible?
We had another young child come to visit the ranch once and when he went home he drew every animal that he met in the entire ranch. Another boy who is paraplegic came for a therapy session. My mini horse approached him and with his nose touched all parts of his legs. The boy wanted to get out of the chair his mother proceeded to assist him. She said look he’s holding himself up on his own. That’s never happened before ever.
The animals, the ranch, being in nature, the peacefulness, the engagement… it’s beyond what people cognitively perceive it to be. There’s more to it, what if there’s more to it all? What if the animals have the capability of healing thoughts, feelings, emotions, conditions, mental and physical illnesses?
